Privacy Policy
Effective October 9, 2026
Fill the Space has no accounts and no sign-in. It never asks for your name, email address, phone number or contacts, and nothing it collects identifies you.
The Fill the Space app for iPhone and iPad shows no ads and collects no advertising identifier. The website at fillthespace.app may show ads from Google; see Advertising below.
What the app collects
Fill the Space uses Google Firebase to run the game and to understand how it is played:
- Analytics records gameplay events: when you start a day; when you finish each room, with whether you solved it, gave up or ran out of drops, its mark, how many pieces it had, how many extra drops you used, its points and how long you took; when you finish the day, with your score, perfect and failed rooms, total time and streak; whether you solved or skipped the practice room; when you reveal a room's solution; when you tap Share, with your score; which screens you open, and how many days back you look in your history; what the score curve showed when Results opened; when an update prompt is shown; when the app asks you to rate it; and background iCloud sync errors. Events carry the day and puzzle number where they apply. Analytics also automatically records when and for how long you use the app, and when it is installed or updated. It keeps your current streak and how many days you have played, together with a randomly generated app-instance identifier, your device model, operating system and app version, and your approximate location (country or region) worked out from your IP address.
- Crashlytics collects crash reports: the device model, the operating system version, which day, puzzle and room you were on, which version of the game's settings was in use, and a technical description of what went wrong.
- Performance Monitoring measures how long the app takes to start, draw its screens and build each room, and how long its network requests take.
- Anonymous Authentication creates a random user identifier the first time the app runs. It is not tied to any account or to anything about you.
- Daily score counts (Cloud Firestore). When you finish a day, the app adds one to that day's count for your score. The counts are shared by everyone who played and draw the score curve on Results and in Stats. An empty marker stored under your anonymous identifier stops the same install being counted twice; nothing stored links that identifier to your score.
- Remote Config downloads game settings.
- App Check uses Apple's App Attest service to confirm that requests come from the genuine app.
Google's handling of this data is described on the Firebase Privacy and Security page and in the Google Privacy Policy.
Why
To tune how hard the rooms are; to find and fix crashes and slow screens; to show everyone how the day went; and to keep the daily counts from being tampered with.
What we do not do
Your data is never sold. The app has no advertising, collects no advertising identifier and does not track you across other apps or websites. The website's ads come only from Google, as described under Advertising below, and nothing else is shared with anyone.
Apple services
Your game history, today's progress and your daily standings sync through iCloud in your own Apple account, where we cannot see them. This is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
Website
You can also play Fill the Space in a web browser. The website keeps your progress, your finished days and whether you have seen the practice room in your browser's local storage, on your device only; clearing your browser's site data removes them. Like the app, it signs in anonymously and, when you finish a day, adds one to that day's count for your score (see Daily score counts above). It uses Firebase Analytics for the same gameplay events as the app, plus a tap on the App Store link; in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland it sets analytics cookies only if you agree in the consent message. Firebase App Check uses Google reCAPTCHA Enterprise to confirm that requests come from the genuine website; reCAPTCHA is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
Advertising
The website may show ads from Google AdSense. Google uses cookies and similar storage to serve these ads, to measure them and, where permitted, to personalise them. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland a consent message asks you first, and nothing is personalised or stored for ads or analytics unless you agree. Privacy choices, at the bottom of the fillthespace.app home page, changes that choice at any time. Google explains how it uses this information in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services. You can turn off personalised ads at adssettings.google.com or aboutads.info. The app shows no ads.
Retention and deletion
Analytics data is kept for up to 14 months and crash reports for up to 90 days, then deleted automatically. Daily score counts are kept, but they are only counts and contain nothing about any one player. The empty per-install markers and anonymous identifiers are also kept, so the same install is never counted twice for a day. Because nothing we hold identifies you, we cannot pick out your data from an email alone; deleting the app stops all future collection, and Analytics data and crash reports then expire on the schedule above. Questions about your data are welcome at support@fillthespace.app.
Children
Fill the Space is suitable for all ages. The app has no advertising, and neither the app nor the website has chat, user-generated content or purchases. The website shows general-audience ads from Google, with gambling-style categories blocked, and is not directed at children. Neither collects anything that could identify a child or anyone else.
Your rights
If you are in the UK, the EEA or California, you have the right to access, correct, export or delete personal data held about you, and to object to its processing. Because we hold nothing that identifies you, we cannot match a request to any particular installation's data; deleting the app stops all collection, and the data described above expires on the schedule given. You are welcome to write to the address below with any question. Our legal basis for processing is our legitimate interest in running and improving the game. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, the website's advertising and analytics cookies rest on your consent, which you can change at any time with Privacy choices.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, the effective date above will change with it. Questions to support@fillthespace.app.
